Sometimes the best thing you can do for your health is also the simplest: step outside, move at an easy pace, and spend time with others. That’s the idea behind the Wellness Walks led by Urban Paths at Memorial Park –  a free, friendly way to get moving in nature.
What to Expect
Wellness Walks are guided group walks led by Laura Conely, founder of Urban Paths, a walking wellness company. Laura is a certified teacher and coach, and her walks bring people together around four simple ideas: nature, movement, connection and well-being.
This isn’t a race or a workout. The pace is conversational, and along the way the group talks about topics like mental and physical health and the benefits of spending time outdoors. Think of it as a morning out with new friends who happen to be walking in the same direction.
Here’s what you can plan for with each Wellness Walk:
- About three miles over roughly 90 minutes. This is not a brisk, fitness focused walk. It’s a gentle pace with room to pause, look around and interact with the group.
- A guided route through various Memorial Park trails. Memorial Park has over 30 miles of trails to discover and this is a great way to explore!
- All ages and abilities welcome. If you can walk comfortably for a while, you can join in.
- No cost. Wellness Walks are free and open to the public.
- Rain or shine. Urban Paths walks typically go on regardless of the weather, so dress for the day!
Why Walk With Urban Paths?
Walking is one of the most accessible forms of exercise, and doing it outdoors has benefits that go beyond the physical. A guided group walk with Urban Paths adds something extra: a reason to show up, friendly familiar faces to meet, and a little structure for people who find it hard to start a routine on their own. Many walkers say the conversation is the best part!
