Memorial Park is a 1,500 acre urban wilderness made up of hiking and biking trails, native prairies, wetlands, sports complexes and so much more.
The 2011 drought sparked a revitalization for Memorial Park through a collaborative Master Plan focusing on capital improvements, long-term conservation, and maintenance. With design led by Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects, the plan focuses on capital improvements, long-term conservation, and maintenance.
Memorial Park Conservancy, along with partners Houston Parks and Recreation Department, Uptown Houston, and Kinder Foundation, are delivering the Ten-Year Plan, completing projects from the Master Plan including like Clay Family Eastern Glades, Sports Complex, Seymour Lieberman Trail segment, Kinder Land Bridge and Cyvia & Melvyn Wolff Prairie, and the Running Complex between 2020 and 2023.
