Memorial Park is the Houston destination for a fun or romantic date in nature! Whether you’re an adventurous duo or prefer a relaxed, intimate setting, the Park offers a variety of ways to spend quality time together. Here are some date ideas to enjoy at Memorial Park:

  1. Catch a Hines Lake Sunset
Head to Clay Family Eastern Glades and find a spot along the water at Bowden Terrace to watch the sun and its reflection as it dips below the trees. Keep your eyes out for wildlife in Hines Lake such as turtles, frogs and various species of birds!

  1. Explore the Trails
Memorial Park offers 30+ miles of trails to traverse, making it the ideal date spot for an active couple. View the Park Map to bookmark restrooms and get familiar with our trail systems before your visit.
For those seeking an adventurous escape, the interconnected Bayou Wilds Trails are highly recommended. Review their color-coded names, distances and difficulty levels to plan your route! Be sure to check the Trails Status before planning out your visit.

  1. Plan a Picnic
Memorial Park has endless opportunities for a dreamy picnic date. There are tables, benches, pavilions and paved areas throughout the Park, in addition to ample greenspace for setting up right in the grass! Picnic Loop is a recommended spot to consider given its namesake, but take a look at our Picnic Guide for more suggestions and ideas. You can picnic almost anywhere at Memorial Park!

  1. Take in the Views on a Kinder Land Bridge Lawn
It might seem like a bit of a hike to the Kinder Land Bridge Lawns, but the views and the vibes do not disappoint! Bring a blanket and some music, books or games for entertainment. You could even just lay down hand-in-hand and watch the clouds go by.

  1. Grab a Coffee at Vibrant Cafe
Vibrant Cafe is located in the Running Complex and offers both indoor and outdoor seating for dining among the trees. It’s a perfect way to round out a Park visit. Try a latte with their house made cashew milk or check out their seasonal food and beverage items. Head to their website to confirm hours and menu.

  1. Look Out Onto Cyvia & Melvyn Wolff Prairie
There are plenty of structures on the pathways around Cyvia & Melvyn Wolff Prairie that offer a place to observe nature and wildlife in a serene atmosphere. Take a stroll and see if you can find the perfect destination to enjoy the sights and sounds together.

  1. Challenge Each Other to a Workout on the Cullen Timing Track
Couples that exercise together stay together! The Cullen Timing Track is an ideal spot to bring any running or fitness enthusiast for a lap or two.

  1. Attend an Upcoming Event
The Park often serves as a venue for events and gatherings of all kinds! Whether it’s a star party under the night sky or a cultural celebration showcasing Houston’s diversity, there are plenty of opportunities to turn a Park program into your next date. Head to our Event Calendar to view what we’ve got coming up.

  1. Complete a 3-Mile Loop Around the Seymour Lieberman Trail
The Seymour Lieberman Trail is one of the most highly trafficked areas of Memorial Park. Set out for a 3-mile loop with your partner to people watch and enjoy each other’s company as you make your way around right back to where you started. View our Park Map for both free and paid parking options along the loop!

  1. Discover Something New
If you are a regular Park user and have your lay of the land, you might already know exactly where you want to go and what you want to do when you arrive. Take your next date as a challenge to try a new activity!
Seek out an area you haven’t been to before using our list of Places to See or reference the Park Map and plan a new route to explore. You might just find a new favorite way to enjoy Memorial Park!

Memorial Park is a fantastic place to create lasting memories with your partner. Whether you prefer excitement or relaxation, there’s something for every couple to enjoy! Plan your next date and let nature be the backdrop!
