Home to many animal and bird species year-round, Hogg Bird Sanctuary is a 15.5 acre park that was donated to the City of Houston by Ima Hogg to be a nature preserve.
Many local birds call Hogg Bird Sanctuary their home, including nesting species like the White-winged Dove, Carolina Wren, Northern Cardinal, Tufted Titmouse, and the Blue Jay. Situated near Buffalo Bayou, waterbirds like the Snowy Egret, Great Blue Heron, and Belted Kingfisher visit. The site also serves as a fly-over stopping point for migratory birds.
