World Environment Day Observance

Friday, June 2, 2023 8am. Pay what you can $5-20. Facilitated walking meditation at the Clay Family Eastern Glades.

Memorial Park Conservancy is proud to co- present with the Rothko Chapel this all- ages, family-friendly mindfulness offering in nature. Encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment. Intuitively, and according to a recently emerging body of literature, we know how beneficial it can be to connect with nature. To celebrate World Environment Day, we will explore the interplay between our own nature and the nature of the elements around us through a facilitated walking meditation led by Aproteem Choudhury.

About the Rothko Chapel: The mission of the Rothko Chapel is to create opportunities for spiritual growth and dialogue that illuminate our shared humanity and inspire action leading to a world in which all are treated with dignity and respect. The Rothko Chapel is home to fourteen murals of the American Abstract Expressionist painter Mark Rothko and Barnett Newman’s sculpture Broken Obelisk, dedicated to the life and living legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In the tradition of founders John and Dominique de Menil, the Rothko Chapel presents programs exploring the intersection of arts and culture, spirituality, and social justice.

Aproteem Choudhury is a Community Health and Integrative Behavioral Health Consultant with experience engaging, mobilizing, and uniting disadvantaged communities, clinical populations, and healthcare institutions with mind-body medicine. Apro is building community-driven coalitions (at Texas Children’s Hospital, Uvalde, TX, and Ukraine) that activate our capacity to understand ourselves, face challenges, and heal trauma.

This is a pay what you can offering, please register via the Rothko Chapel website, here.
