DESCRIPTION:One of Houston’s most anticipated traditions is returning to Memorial Park for its 10th running in the fall! The 10th Annual Chord Energy Houston Corporate 5K takes place October 20–22\, 2026. \nWhat began as a corporate wellness event has grown into something far greater: a citywide celebration of teamwork\, health\, and shared purpose. This year\, more than 10\,000 participants and 250+ companies are expected to run\, walk\, and connect – all while making a meaningful investment in Memorial Park. \nParticipants complete a 5K around the Seymour Lieberman Trail\, followed by an exciting outdoor happy hour on the lawn at Clay Family Eastern Glades\, featuring refreshments\, live entertainment and much more! \n  \nPortions of Clay Family Eastern Glades and parking lots will be reserved for this event starting Friday\, October 16\, through Friday\, October 23. Prepare for higher activity on the 3-mile Seymour Lieberman Trail during this time. DESCRIPTION:Join experts from Birds Houston every first Monday for their monthly Urban Bird Survey in Memorial Park! The survey is free and open to the public. Beginners are welcome! \nSurvey Leader: Skip Almoney \nMeet at 7:30 am in the north end of the Clay Family Eastern Glades parking lot near the restroom pavilion off East Memorial Loop Drive. Parking meters cost $2.00 — cash\, credit\, or parking app.  The walk usually takes 1-1/2 hours\, but you can leave whenever you want. This location just keeps getting better and better for birding. Please let the group know if you need to borrow binoculars. \nAbout the Survey\nBirds Houston is conducting a monthly survey at the Eastern Glades portion of Memorial Park and Wolff Prairie. The survey is held on the first Monday of the month\, year-round. Click Here to learn more details on the Birds Houston website. \nAbout Clay Family Eastern Glades\nThe Eastern Glades is the first major Master Plan project to be implemented in Memorial Park. The Glades project reclaimed 100 acres of previously inaccessible parkland\, creating an exciting new birding hotspot with 3 different habitats – lake\, forested wetlands\, and savanna. This survey will help assess the bird diversity within Eastern Glades and establish a baseline of avian species. During the first survey following the public opening\, Birds Houston found three Red-headed Woodpeckers and a nesting pair of Least Grebes\, among 13 other species.

DESCRIPTION:Join experts from Birds Houston every first Monday for their monthly Urban Bird Survey in Memorial Park! The survey is free and open to the public. Beginners are welcome! \nSurvey Leader: Skip Almoney \nMeet at 7:30 am in the north end of the Clay Family Eastern Glades parking lot near the restroom pavilion off East Memorial Loop Drive. Parking meters cost $2.00 — cash\, credit\, or parking app.  The walk usually takes 1-1/2 hours\, but you can leave whenever you want. This location just keeps getting better and better for birding. Please let the group know if you need to borrow binoculars. \nAbout the Survey\nBirds Houston is conducting a monthly survey at the Eastern Glades portion of Memorial Park and Wolff Prairie. The survey is held on the first Monday of the month\, year-round. Click Here to learn more details on the Birds Houston website. \nAbout Clay Family Eastern Glades\nThe Eastern Glades is the first major Master Plan project to be implemented in Memorial Park. The Glades project reclaimed 100 acres of previously inaccessible parkland\, creating an exciting new birding hotspot with 3 different habitats – lake\, forested wetlands\, and savanna. This survey will help assess the bird diversity within Eastern Glades and establish a baseline of avian species. During the first survey following the public opening\, Birds Houston found three Red-headed Woodpeckers and a nesting pair of Least Grebes\, among 13 other species.
