Visitor Services Assistant

Reporting Relationship: Visitor Services Supervisor

Status: Part-Time; primarily weekday mornings 5:45a.m., some evenings and weekends

Overview: The Visitor Services Assistant covers the visitor services front desk at the Cullen Running Trails Center. The position is primarily responsible for: 

  • Front desk representative for Memorial Park Conservancy
    • Answer general questions about the Park and facilities, including fielding questions for other staff members appropriately
    • Answer main phone line and when necessary forward calls to appropriate staff member
    • Serve as cashier for a variety of transactions
  • Facility management
    • Opens and/or closes the building, following MPC protocol for security and cleanliness
    • Monitor sales inventory and process purchases for visitors
    • Monitor cleanliness of restrooms and facility
    • Oversee Park Lost and Found 
    • Keep common areas tidy and visually appealing
    • Set up program or meeting space and signage as determined by Visitor Services Supervisor
    • Work with facility renters, especially on weekends, to help them host a successful event in the building
  • Programming
    • Assist Visitor Services Supervisor with vendor and group fitness compliance
    • Act as main point of contact for vendors with questions; troubleshoots as needed
    • Work with program leaders to set up activity space and participant hand-outs
    • Assist with program logistics as needed
  • Permitting and Events
    • Assist with facility and park reservations, including entering information into reservation management software system
    • Assist Events and Marketing staff 
  • Other
    • Assist Conservancy staff with daily administrative support duties


  • Highly organized
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups and personalities
  • Proven ability to show up on time and work well without direct supervision
  • Ability to communicate with the public in a tactful and pleasant way
  • Comfortable providing some direction to janitorial staff when necessary
  • Ability to work early weekday mornings, some weekends and evenings
  • Confident working alone
  • High school graduation or equivalency plus one-year customer service experience or a combination of experience and training
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • “All hands-on deck” approach

Compensation: This is an hourly part-time position, starting rate is $12/hour
